Wedding Ministry

Love is patient, love is kind…” (1Corinthians 13:4) 

Nine Mary, Queen of Peace Wedding Coordinators have the privilege of listening to this familiar and heart-warming reading at least 50 times each year as couples from around the world come to our two churches to receive the sacrament of marriage. Coordinators give at least 5 hours of their time to each wedding to prepare couples for this special day, and ensure timely and unique touches to each ceremony. The behind-the-scenes work coordinators do allows furniture, flower arrangements, readings, photos, kleenex, water, unity candles, pew bows, processions, and seating to appear and happen “by magic” so couples, their families and friends can simply enjoy their wedding without worrying about these details. 

The wedding ministry extends beyond just the couples being married. Some wedding guests are visiting our churches for the first time, so we try to extend warmth and hospitality to everyone who enters our doors so they become repeat visitors. Our parish is the third most popular place to get married in Pittsburgh (behind St Paul Cathedral and Heinz Chapel), so that’s a lot of opportunity to share Christ’s love!
