Level I Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Program for 3-6 year olds (preschool and kindergarten)

“Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a Montessori-based religious formation program for children, beginning at the age of three.  It seeks to create and facilitate a sacred, ‘hands-on’ space for children called an atrium, in which both the children and their catechists can hear, ponder, and celebrate the most essential mysteries of the Christian faith as revealed in the Scriptures and Liturgy.”

Our "atrium" is a cherished part of our Children and Family Ministry Program.  All preschool and kindergartners have the opportunity to meet Jesus in this prepared environment.  The program is meant to harness the best, most focused energies of very young children.  This sort of concentration happens when the child can choose her own "work" and become totally immersed in it with wonder.  Because of the unique capacity very young children have for wonder and concentration, we believe they have a privileged opportunity to know God.  In the atrium, children and adults "work and pray" together, striving to open our hearts, minds and bodies ever more deeply to our Good Shepherd.

Held on Sunday mornings, September through May, from 9:45-11:10am in our atrium (top floor of Sullivan Hall).
